TMS370C702 Programmer Guide 1. How to use programmer board. Insert device (TMS370C702) into programmer socket. Make sure that all pins are clean, if you are desoldered chip from immo board. Also check right position for pin 1 in socket. Connect a 12 volts DC power suppy to the power terminals of programmer. Red wire is positive terminal, black is GND. Switch on power. Then connect programmer board to PC COM1 by standart serial cable. The current consumptition must be no more than 50 mA if all is OK. Important: Always switch ON power supply before to connect COM cable!!! 2. Software. Start TMS702C.EXE in true DOS mode. Sometimes software works in Windows DOS prompt mode, but this is not sure, and is not recomended. Warning: Software do not works under Windows XP operating system! Press F2 to read eeprom memory. If all is OK, after a few seconds eeprom contents will be shown on display.There is a WPO mode during write eeprom command. Press F1 to switch on/off this feature. 3. Using programmer board without computer. Insert device, switch on power supply and press button on board. A message will be displayed, letter by letter, and digit by digit: 'P i n x x x x' where 'x x x x' is PIN code. There is automatic detection for VW/Opel chips. You can press button so many times you want, but do not press button while read or write eeprom by computer! Error messages: If there is message 'E 1' this means " No connection to MCU". If there is message 'E 2' this means " Wrong eeprom data", in this case you may read eeprom by using personal computer, and see where is the problem. 4. Troubleshooting. If you see " No connection to MCU! " message, do the next things: Make sure that there are power supply to the programmer. Check cable connection to COM1. Disconnect power supply, wait 10 seconds and reconect it. Make sure that device is inserted in right position into socket. If you read only zeros for eeprom content, Exit Windows operating system, and use pure DOS mode. If there are errors when you write eeprom memory: Sometimes there is write protection for some eeprom areas.
