How to program new transponder keys with Vagtacho!

Important! Vagtacho DO NOT need "pre-coded" or "dealer" transponder keys!

VAGTACHO use NEW, NOT USED, UNLOCKED Megamos ID88 and ID48 transponders, or standart TP22,23,24,25 transponders for ALL supported cars!

The remote keys with glass transponders or emulation of ID48, ID88 are also OK.

Type of required transponder key is shown with white letters in "Program New Key" window.

Newer VW cars MY2016+ uses Megamos ID88! If you try to program ID48 to these cars, message Transponder Not Found will be shown!

This procedure works with VDO dashes on CAN bus (UDS protocol) from year 2011-2016

Switch ON ignition with VALID key!

Start software, select "VDO NEW - CAN - UDS protocol MY2011-2013" or "VDO UDS MY2014-16" from menu. Press "Connect Selected ECU" button, after about 30 seconds software will get access to the dash.

Bootloader menu must appears on screen, otherwise this is unsupported dash, or the key is not valid! If you see "Bootloader Error!" message , this means that this dash is not supported, or wrong selection of the dashboard has been made.

Press "Auto Mode" and see the next picture.

Press "Auto Mode", and wait 10 seconds. Vagtacho will read AES key of this dashboard. If AES key is good, message "Access Granted" will be shown on screen.

Important: copy-paste in a text file the information which is marked in blue! If you know AES key, you can get access to the same dashboard in future without valid key of the car!

Vagtacho will hold AES key of the last successfully read car!

Press "Disconnect", and see the next picture.

Press "Disconnect", turn OFF ignition, and remove the valid key. Insert the new key with new, not used, unlocked Megamos ID48 transponder and switch ON ignition with the new key. Do NOT close Vagtacho software ! Press "Connect Selected ECU" button, after about 5 seconds software will get access to the dash again. Press "Program New Key", a new window will be open, see the picture. Vagtacho will check the new transponder key. There will be message on screen if that key can not be programmed to the car! Check "Erase all old keys" if you wish. In this case all keys will be erased. If you left this unchecked, the new key will be added to the existing keys. No need to program all available keys again. Press "Continue" , the new key will be programmed in 5 seconds. Wait while the immobiliser accepts the new key, a message will be on the dashboard's display: "2-2" "3-3" ect. for every next key. Turn off/on ignition, and start engine. If the immobiliser's shows on display "1-2" or "2-3" this means that the type of the transponder key is not correct, or this key is already programmed to the car! Do NOT repeat the programming procedure if immobiliser shows different digits "1-2" or "2-3"! Just switch ON ignition with NEW Megamos ID48 transponder key! If you want to program more than one new key, repeat again the same procedure for every next key.

This procedure works with VDO dashes on CAN bus (UDS protocol) from year 2009-2011

Switch ON ignition with VALID key!

Start software, select "VDO NEW - CAN - UDS protocol MY2009 - 2011" from menu. Press "Connect Selected ECU" button, after about 30 seconds software will get access to the dash.

Message "Access Granted" must appears on screen, otherwise this is unsupported dash, or the key is not valid! If you see "Bootloader Error!" message , this means that this dash is not supported, or wrong selection of the dashboard has been made.

Important: copy-paste in a text file the information which is marked in blue! If you know this key, you can get access to the same dash in future without valid key of the car!

Vagtacho will hold the key of the last successfully read car!

Important! Some early versions of these dashboards still uses TP22,23,24,25 pre - programmed transponder keys. If the dashboard does not accept standart ID48 transponder, switch ON ignition with NEW TP23, 25, 24, 22 transponder key. Make sure that you are using right type transponder key: TP23 for VW, TP25 for Audi, TP24 for Skoda, TP22 for Seat.

Vagtacho can pre-program ID48 as standart TP23,25 ..etc..Click here !

This is an additional option for checking of transponder keys. It is not required for key programming!

This feature works ONLY with CAN bus cars!

Switch ON igiontion with key which you want to test. Select proper ECU with can bus from "Select ECU" menu. Press "Options"-"Transponder Check". Software will connects immobiliser. After successful connection, press "Read ECU Info" button. All information about the transponder key will be shown on screen. "Transponder Variable Part YES!" means that secret key of transponder is valid for the car. "Transponder Fixed Part YES!" means that ID number of transponder is stored into immobiliser's memory. These two parameters must be "YES", otherwise immobiliser will block engine ecu, and engine can't be started. "Transponder Locked" is not important for immobiliser. If it is "YES", this means that secret key and user pages of this transponder key can not be re-programmed for other car!

This procedure works with Magnetti Marelli dashboards MY2015-2017 with Motorola 9S12XHZ384 MCU

Switch ON ignition with the new key. Start software, select "Marelli MOT" from 'Select ECU' menu. Press "Connect Selected ECU" button, after about 3 seconds software will get access to the dash.

Message "Access Granted" must appears on screen, otherwise this is unsupported dash, or type of dashboard is not selected correctly.

Press "Program New Key" and software will open a new window. See the picture. Disconnect Vagtacho OBD cable from the car and turn off ignition. Put the NEW key over Vagtacho OBD connector as it is shown on the picture. Make sure that transponder is into white circle printed over OBD connector. Press OK and software will write CS data from immobiliser into new transponder key. See the next picture.

Important! ONLY interfaces with integrated transponder key programmer can do that procedure. If your Vagtacho cable does not have that programmer, you can buy it from this link: Click here !

When new key is pre-programmed with CS data, turn ON ignition with this new key. Connect Vagtacho OBD connector to car's OBD socket and press OK. Vagtacho will connect immobiliser and will check the new key.

DO NOT FORGET to connect Vagtacho OBD cable to the car !!!

Vagtacho will check new transponder key.

Transponder Variable Part must be YES! Otherwise the new key will not be programmed!

Check "Erase all old keys" if you wish. In this case all old keys will be erased. If you left this unchecked, the new key will be added to the existing keys. No need to program all available keys again. Press "Continue" , the new key will be programmed in 5 seconds. After programming, you can check the new key - click "Options" -> "Transponder Check". Transponder Fixed Part and Transponder Variable Part must be YES! When these values are "YES" engine can be started.

This procedure works with VDO dashes on CAN (TP2 protocol) MY2003-2007,Audi A4 MY2005-2008 and all cars with Marelli dashboards MY2010-2014

Switch ON ignition with the new key. Be sure that the type of transponder key is correct, use TP23 for VW, TP25 for Audi, TP22 for Seat, TP24 for Skoda! Start software, select "VDO NEW - CAN bus" from menu. Press "Connect Selected ECU" button, after 5 seconds the data of the dash will be shown on screen. Press "Program New Key", software will open a new window. See the picture.

Check "Erase all old keys" if you wish. In this case all keys will be erased. If you left this unchecked, the new key will be added to the existing keys. No need to program all available keys again. Press "Continue" , the new key will be programmed in 5 seconds. Wait while the immobiliser's warning lamp is turned off. Turn off/on ignition, and start engine. If the immobiliser's warning lamp starts flashing faster, this means that the type of the transponder key is not correct, or this key is already programmed to the car! Do NOT repeat the programming procedure if immobiliser's warning lamp is flashing faster! Just switch ON ignition with right type TP2x transponder key! If you want to program more than one new key, repeat again the same procedure from the beginning for every next key.

The next procedure works with K-Line cars ONLY!

Switch ON ignition with the new key. Start software, and press "Connect Any Tacho" for all cars with immobiliser inside dashboard. If the car has got separate immo box, select immo box from "Select ECU" menu and press "Connect Selected ECU"

Important! VW Polo, Skoda Fabia, Seat Ibiza MY2007-2009 has got immobiliser inside instrument panel, but new keys for these cars must be programmed like Audi / VW Immo box ! ! ! Read messages on screen! Turn ignition ON ten minutes prior key programming procedure! If the dashboard shows " Error " message on mileage display, click "Options" -> "Reset Tacho" when the job is done. This will restore mileage data on display.

5 seconds after the connection the data of the dash will be shown on screen. Press "Program New Key", software will open a new window. See the picture. Enter correct PIN code , and the number of all keys ( all new and old keys ! ) which have to be programmed to the car. Select "Channel 21" for cars with immo 2 or 3. Select "Channel 1" for cars with immo1. Press "OK" , and read messages on the screen. The new key will be programmed to the car in 5 seconds. Wait while the immobiliser's warning lamp is turned off and turn ignition OFF. If you have to program more than one key, turn ON ignition with the next key, and wait until the immo's warning lamp is turned off. Any old valid key which is not programmed during this procedure, will be erased. If the immobiliser's warning lamp starts flashing faster, this means that type of the transponder key is not correct, or this key is already programmed to the car! For some old cars, before year 2000, turn off ignition after programming of the last key, and wait 3 minutes before to start engine.
